ABSTRACT

This study investigated the appraisal of the problem and prospects in choosing accounting as a course in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (A survey of student in Department of Accounting) the main objective is to find out whether the knowledge of mathematics has a positive influence in choosing, studying and learning of accounting. To guide the research work, four (4) research questions were formulated. The sample size for the study 200 (two hundred). Questionnaire was used as an instrument for collecting data and data collected was analyzed using simple percentage. It was found that there is positive correlation between mathematics and accounting, more so, there is low performance of students in accounting. Based on my finding , teachers who teach accounting must be those who read accounting. And also the admission quota fro students who study accounting should be increased to enable Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike have many undergraduates in this area of study
