Perceived Impact Of Examination Malpractice In Nigeria Secondary School Level Of Education In Ikwuano Local Government Area Of Abia State

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this work is to find out the perceived impact of examination malpractice in Nigeria Secondary School Level of Education in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State. The sample of fifty (50) students, 25 teachers and 25 parents were used for the study. However, five research questions guided the study. The method of data collection was through the use of questionnaires and collected data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The major findings of the study revealed that the factors responsible for examination malpractice are students who want to get certificate by all means, inability of parent to provide necessary textbooks and other materials, parents also sort the supervisors through their children by providing the money for the sorting. Teachers poor remuneration leads them into examination malpractice. Some teachers do not complete their scheme of work. Supervisors behaviour on students such as selling of extra answer sheet, forcing the students to contribute money can also result to examination malpractice. Students lack of seriousness in their study makes them engage in examination malpractices. Students lack of understanding of the subjects leads t examination malpractice. Based on the findings, the researcher make some recommendations.
