ABSTRACT

Measurement can be conceptualized as the process of assigning numerals to attributes of an object according to specific rules, in order to obtain quantitative data. For example, we can measure how tall a building is, how deep a well is, the weight of an object, how much a student has learnt, or how intelligent a person is. We would normally assign numerals, numbers or grades to attributes that are being measured. Measurement involves assigning a number or grade, a letter or sign to express in quantity, a possession of certain characteristics or attributes. It is the process of getting a number or valve for attributes or traits

<.f a thing or a person. Measurement neither involves qualitative description of the object nor passing of valve judgment on its characteristics. Measurement is limited to quantitative description of a pupil’s behaviour.>
