Abstract

 This paper examines library ethnics in relation to the use of artificial intelligence (Al) in academic libraries: considering current development. It consider the meaning of ethnics generally and professional library ethnics specifically. It further x-rays the ethical dilemmas faced by library professionals as well as the factors that influence information ethnics. It also looked into ethical principles and guidelines in relation to professional library practices .. It consider the concept of artificial intelligence. ethical principles identified in existing artificial intelligence guidelines, functions/ advantages of artificial intelligence in relation to library possible areas of application of artificial intelligence in libraries, barriers I limitation to artificial intelligence systems. The paper attempt a critical discourse on libraries ethnics in relation to the use of artificial intelligence in academic libraries, its areas of conflicts, as well as implications for libraries and library professionals. It concludes with a reflection on library ethics and the use of artificial intelligence in the library considering current development with special interest in the Covid-I9 experience.
