Lecturers' Perception of Adequacy of National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Guidelines: Implication for Quality Assurance : Akanwa, U.N

Abstract

 This study was carried out to determine lecturers' perception of the adequacy of NUC accreditation guidelines for Nigerian Universities. A survey design was used. One research question was asked and one hypothesis formulated to guide the study. Stratified random sample techniques were used to obtain the sample of 550 lecturers out of the 1677 lecturers that is the population of the study. Instrument for data collection was a 25- item researchers' developed questionnaire whose validity was ensured and reliability of 0.85 determined. Results show that except for two items, the lecturers perceive the NUC accreditation guideline to be adequate. Recommendations on the need to revisit the two items which are standard of tests/examinations and project work/practical work were made in addition to others.
