Abstract

University Libraries are store houses of comprehensive knowledge and act as disseminating agents for the knowledge producers because knowledge accrued from the library is invariably implemented in creating new knowledge. In the information age, without doubt, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has given shape to libraries and library resources. In this research, an attempt is made to gain an understanding of how ICTs have currently affected Information Resource Development in Nigerian University Libraries In a developing Economy such as Nigeria's. The research identifies challenging situations faced by Nigerian University Libraries in the quest to modernize and speed up their daily activities and services, and reduce operational costs. This work attempts to highlight the limitations to and challenges of full implementation of ICTs in Libraries.
