Information Literacy And The Achievement Of Sustainable Development Goals: Okezie, Chinyere A.

ABSTRACT

From a conceptual research perspective, this paper discussed the role of information literacy in the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs). The SDGs are highlighted as systematic and targeted strategies aimed at achieving and sustaining global development goals. Furthermore, the SDGs encapsulated the necessary actions people across the globe must take: to improve per capita income and overall economy: protect the global environment; and uphold an all-inclusive society. The need to communicate related information on SDGs to people of various biographical variables across different regions in the world was emphasized and reflected on as the crux of information literacy. Consequently, the paper identified the teacher-students curriculum method (one-to-group cum crowd or face-to-face approach) and the local-guide method (one-to-one cum household approach) as two far-reaching methods for deploying information literacy towards facilitating the achievement of SDGs and thus, suggested strategies to strengthen the application of the methods.
