Abstract

The study examine influence of merger and acquisition on the employees performance (A study of Access Bank and Eco Bank Abia State). The specific objectives were to; determine the factors that influences merger and takeover of the selected banks, to examine the extent merger and acquisition influence the performance of employees of the selected banks, to determine the impact of merger and acquisition on business operation. The study had a population L10, out of which a sample size of 86 was realized using taro yamanes formular at 5% error and 95 % significant level. Primary data obtain from distribution of questionnaires were analyze using descriptive statistic such as frequency, mean and percentage. The study adopted analysis of varience (ANOVA) to analyzed the stated hypotheses. The finding reveal that that there is a significant factors. influencing merger and takeover in the banks (X'= 9. 081> X! = 1.99, P = 0.000 <0.05). Also 'there is Merger and Acquisition have a significantly influence on employees· performance of the banks (XZ= 7. 705 > X? = 1.99, P = 0.000 < 0.05). Merger and Acquisition have a significantly impact on business operation ()(J= 2.197> X? = 1.99, P = 0.090 < 0.05). It was recommended that Banks should continue to recognize employees· level of involvement with building the new organizational culture following and Merger and Acquisition exercise.
