ABSTRACT
The study was carried out in order to make an in-vitro assessment of honey from different vegetation zones viz; Derived savanna, Rainforest zone and Mangrove, snail slime from two species ; Achachatina achachatina and Achachatina Marginata and Tetrapleura tetraptera and test/ascertain their effect on pathogenic organisms such as Bacteria {Escherichia co/i, staphylococcus aureus, and pseuclomonas aeruuginosa, stretoptococcus spp } and Fungi {Aspergillus Species, Penicillium Spp, Rhizpous Species, Peniculliurn Spp}. Results from the proximate analysis of honey from the different vegetation zones showed high variations in PH, Specific gravity {SG}, percentages Moisture Content {MC}, ash, constant pressure {CP} and TTA for bacteria, pure honey 100% from rainforest zone showed the highest inhibition effect on the growth of S. dysenteria {2. 88} but did not have any effect on Escherichia co/i and S. typhii, while Tetrapleura tetraptera showed the highest growth inhibition effect on Stretoptococcus spp{7.40} which was closely similar to 10:90% honey and Tetrapleura tetraptera mixture with value of 6.20. Honey from derived savanna showed the highest PH value of 4.73, while that from mangrove forest showed the highest CP value of 0.32, SG%, MC%, TTA% values were statically similar across the three vegetation zones. For fungi, pure honey had the highest inhibition effect on Rhizpous Species, {1.19%} while Tetrapleura tetraptera had the highest effect on Fusarium s {6.8}. The highest inhibition effect was however observed with 1:9% of honey and Tetrapleura tetraptera mixture on Asergillus with value 7.50.
