Abstract

 Inclusion in education is describedas an approach wherein children with special educational needs spend most or all oftheir time with learners without such challenges. Under the inclusive structure, both special and non-special needs learners are brought together in one classroom setting for the purpose of educating them. The task ofproviding educationalservices is ajoint venture by public andpi ivate schools in Nigeria. Thispaper highlights theplace ofprivate education providers in Nigeria in using the approved curriculum to facilitate inclusive learning. It also reviewedthe aims andobjectives ofspecial education programmes It was indicated that a good number ofprivate schools have successfully undertaken the responsibility ofequipping special needs learners with adequate lear ningcontent andrequisite resources. Challenges encountered as indicated include lack ofpatronage by parents, dearth ofqualified teachers ' and inadequatefunding. Recommendations to enhance effective integration of special needs curriculum byprivate schools as made includedproperguidelines for establishing private schools, mandating school proprietors to engage qualified special needs teachers, retraining of teachers through regular workshops, confer ences and seminars, regular monitoring ofschools, among others.
