Impact Of Job Satisfaction On Workers' Productivity: A Study Of National Population Commission In Abia State, Nigeria

ABSTRACT

This study focused on the impact of job satisfaction on workers' productivity with particular reference to National Population Commission (NPC), Abia State. The objectives of the study includes; to find out if job satisfaction have had a positive effect on employees productivity in National Population Commission, to find out whether job satisfaction is practiced and if it's an effective management tool for optimal employee productivity. To achieve these objectives, the researcher employed both primary and secondary methods of data collection. Structured questionnaires were distributed to sampled respondents where 268 were properly filled and returned. The hypotheses were tested with the use of Z-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and chi square statistical instrument at 0.05 level of significant. The findings revealed that satisfaction motivates greater productivity, proper performance and rewards motivates workers performance and productivity. However, recommendation were made as follows; there should be good working environment, morale and excellent communication pattern between employees and managements, employees should be involved in decision making and policy formulation for effective and efficient implementation as well as attainment of job satisfaction to achieve the objectives.
