Impact Of Internal Auditing On Fraud Prevention And Detection In Not-For-Profit Organizations (A Study Of Assemblies Of God Church Bende Road, Umuahia)

ABSTRACT

This study focused on the impact of internal auditing on fraud prevention and detection in not-for-profit organization with special reference to Assemblies of God church Bende Road, Umuahia. This work had the objective of finding out the impact of auditing on fraud prevention and detection in not-for-profit organizations. Primary data were collçted through the use of a well structured questionnaire instrument. Collected data were analyzed and the Chi-square (X2) statistical tool was employed in testing the stated hypothesis. From the result of the analysis of the first hypothesis, the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternate accepted, meaning that auditing significantly enhances fraud prevention and detection in not-for-profit organization. The second hypothesis was rejected and the alternate accepted, which implies that there is a significant relationship between auditing and performance qficiency in not-for-profit organizations. Therefore, the researcher finally recommended that the senior staff in not-for-profit organization should communicate a zero tolerance policy for fraud prevention and detection.
