Econometric methodology, of the form of ordinary least squares were used to analyze the ensuing data and also to test the proposed hypotheses. The key outcome of the work is that there is significant relationship between foreign direct investment (manufacturing sector) and economic development. It is recommended that Government of Nigeria should endeavour to attract Foreign Direct Investment in other relevant sectors of the economy for further development of the economy.
