ABSTRACT
This research work investigated the effect of effective purchasing system on profitability of the firm. It also measures the relationship between purchasing cost and profitability and sales volume. 50 respondents were selected purposively and data collected through self-administered questionnaires. Data was analyzed with simple descriptive statistics and correlation model. The findings indicate that there is a strongly positive relationship between purchasing cost and profit. Sales volume is also positively related to cost. It is recommend that a trained purchasing personnel should handle the purchasing activities of the firm.
