ABSTRACT

 The study examined the impact of effective inventory management and control on growth of manufacturingfirms: a study ofPz Cussons Pic Aba, Abia state Nigeria. The objectives ofthe study is to examine the nature of relationship between inventory management and firm's effectiveness, to determine the impact of inventory management on firm's productivity and to evaluate the nature ofcorrelation between inventory management andfirm'sprofitability. A set ofstructured questionnaire was used as instrumentfor data collection and administered to 140 respondent which was randomly selected using Taro Yamane and 104 were duly filled and returned. The datawasthen analyzedusingSPSS version. The resultshowed, that inventory control has a positive but insignificantrelationship withfirmproductivity. The mainfinding ofthis study is that inventory management andproxy variables show a strong positive relationship with firm productivity. The study therefore conclude thatfirms integrated efforts oftop management and other staff is required to achieve adequate inventory control and hence firm's productivity. Furthermore, the studyrecommendsthatthere isaneedfor aPZCussonsPicAba to continuously train inventory managersandsupervisorsto enhance manpower andimprove the knowledge, skills and attitude required by employees to perform adequately and promote organizational productivity.
