ABSTRACT

This study examines the impact of computerization on accounting system of commercial banks in Nigeria. The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of computerized accounting system on the service delivery in banks in Nigeria and to determine the effect of computerized accounting system on reduction and control of fraud in the banking sector in Nigeria. The work adopted descriptive research design in its methodology and use structured questionnaire which was distributed to Union bank Umudike and Umuahia branches where 23 respondents were selected and only 21 questionnaires were returned. The data collected from the respondents were analyzed using the ordinary Least Square regression tools as well as the coefficient of determination R222.2% as a base for decision-making. This work discovered that computerization has aided in service delivery and fraud control. Thus, the work concluded that computerization is a good tool for control and service delivery. The work further recommended that all commercial banks adopt computerized accounting system.
