ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this study is to examine the impact of audit report on the management of local government funds, a study of Enugu North Local Government Area. Questionnaires were distributed to the staff of Enugu North Local Government Audit department as the sample size. Data were generated from both primary and secondary source. The taro Yamane formula was used to determine sample size. T-test was used to test the three hypothesis formulated for the study. Finding were made which among others stated that audit reports create no remarkable impact in the management of local government funds hence audit reports are addressed to chairman of the local government who is usually victims of the audit reports and as such always show the implementation of the audit reports. Based on these findings it was recommended, that the internal control system should be strengthened and internal audit reports should be prepared by qualified auditors and without the influence of council members.
