ABSTRACT

The study examined the impact of agriculture and health expenditure on economic growth of Nigeria. The study covered from 1990 to 2018. The specific objectives were to ascertain the impact ofagriculture expenditure on gross domestic product ofNigeria, to ascertain the impact of health expenditure on gross domestic product of Nigeria and to ascertain the impact of agriculture and health expenditure on gross domestic product ofNigeria. The study adopted, expostfacto research design. The data was sourcedfrom central bank ofNigeria (CBN) Statistical Bulletin 2018 and it was analyzed using simple and multiple regression analysis. The result revealed that agriculture expenditure has positive and significant impact on real gross domestic product ofNigeria, health expenditure has positive and significant impact on real gross domestic product ofNigeria and that health expenditure has positive and significant impact on real gross domestic product ofNigeria while agriculture expenditure has positive and insignificant impact on real gross domestic product ofNigeria. It was recommended that Government should has a matter ofurgency increase expenditure on agriculture and health sectors ofthe economy so as to increase economic growth. Ifagriculture and health sectors can be given a priority in Nigeria by properly managing the available funds in the sectors, it will boost employment and as well improve the standard living ofthe Nigerians
