ABSTRACT

Twenty-four grower rabbits, aged 6-8 weeks averaging 700g in initial weight were divided into six groups of (4) four each and used in a 56-day feeding trial, to evaluate the blood chemistry and haematology off rabbits fed fermented sawdust. The experiment was designed in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), fed diet (control) contained the ratio, diet2 (untreated), diet 3 (treated) fermented sawdust incorporated at 20% inclusion levels. The haematological parameters of study include hemoglobin (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV), White Blood Cells (WBC), Red Blood Cells (RBC). Biochemical parameters include urea, serum creatinine, total protein (TP), globulin,, albumin. Results show that there were no significant differences (P>0.05) in the growth and haematological parameters of fed fermented sawdust. But in the biochemical parameters, raw sawdust had higher significant effect on globulin (2.60) than that of untreated (1.67) and treated (1.00). Raw sawdust may be preferred for feeding grower rabbits with regard to their biochemical parameters.
