Factors Affecting Body Shapes And Body Weight Of Female Undergraduates Of Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture In Abia State

ABSTRACT

Body shape can he defined mainly by skeletal structure, muscles and fats, or can he determined by the nature or body fat distribution (Tovee, et al, 1999). Weight can be defined as how heavy somebody is which can be measured in, for examples kilograms or pounds (Revolution- health, 2008). the development of the shape categories required a stringent evaluation of all the variables that could potentially impact a person's shape and thus impact the basic body shapes, which is very vital. Some of these body shapes normally occur only in females although some endocrine conditions or use of female hormones such as by transsexual can produce them in male bodies, as with most physical traits, there is a wide range of normal body shapes (Trovee, et al,1999). Earlier stated, skeletal structure frames overall shape of the body (Tovee et al, 1 999). This remains almost the same in the female undergraduates and does not alter much during their life time. Widening of hip bones occur as part of the female undergraduate pubertal process, estrogen (Predominant sex hormone in female undergraduates), causes widening of pelvis as Part of sexual differentiation (Tamburrion, 1992).
