ABSTRACT
Non-conventional feed nutrients such as pig dung, palm trunk, snails and periwinkle, groundnut were procured and then processed into particulates. These particulates were used to formulate the cat fish feed at different ration in combination with other approved material for feed production. The mixture was then extruded and dried, after drying it was then subjected to physio chemical analysis, which was used to feed twelve (12) fishes in different buckets, including four (4) other fishes which served as the control was fed with the convectional feed. The performance of the feed on the fishes were analyzed and the growth rate of the fishes were taken including that of the control. Result obtained showed that though the feed varied in chemical nutrients, the crude protein ranges between 19.37 and 21.46% and metabolized energy 1194.81 and 2280.62 kcal/kg. The result obtained indicates that the processed non-convectional feed can compete favourably with the convectional feed.
