The inaccuracies and slowness in accounting entries under the

manualaccounting system inevitably led many corporate organizations

to opt for the computerized accounting system. First bank Plc. was one

organization which adopted the system several years ago. The essence

of this research was to empirically evaluate the effectiveness of First

Bank plc. financial management in a computerized accounting system.

To achieve this objective, the study adopt the t-test statistical techniques

to determine if there was a significant difference between effectiveness

of financial management in the manual accounting system and the

computerized accounting system. The result of the t-test analysis

indicated that there was a significant difference between the

effectiveness in the manual accounting system and the computerized

accounting system. It was recommended that First Bank P/c. should

upgrade the computerized accounting system to the Enterprise

resources System (ERPS), the bank should strengthen its internal

control system and should introduce forensic accounting to complement

the computerized accounting system.
