ABSTRACT

This work is on enhancing the performance of code division multiple access (CDMA) 20001XEV-DV network using antenna diversity technique. The research was necessitated performance degradation experienced in CDMA20001XEV-DV network. The Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of the transmitted CDMA 20001XEV-DV network in Rayleigh fading channel with Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel was evaluated. MRC transmit diversity scheme technique for multiple transmitting antennas was modeled and simulated. It was observed that the conventional Single antenna system (SAS) gave a found that, the implementation of MRC transmit diversity scheme gave a considerable reduction in error rate. The BER of about 0.45% occurred for two transmitting antennas and 0.22% for four transmitting antennas. Comparing the BER results of MRC transmit diversity scheme to the BER of the conventional antenna system, it was observed that BER performance of 0.40% and 0.63% reduction was achieved with the use of2 antennas transmit diversity scheme and 4 antennas transmit diversity scheme respectively.
