ABSTRACT Employees working conditions has both positive and negative consequences on organizational performance. Employees are considered as the most valuable resource and asset to an organisation. Many brewery industries such as Seven-Up Bottling Company Pic, Nigeria Bottling Company Pic, and Nigerian Breweries Pic depends on theirformidable employeesfor increasing their performance. Employee working conditions is essential to customer satisfaction and organisation performance in a competitive environment. Therefore Numerous working conditions are being pursued by different organisations in order to realize their organisational goals yet, differences might exist in the performance ofsome brewery industries due to their working conditions. This study therefore, evaluated employee working conditions and organizationalperformance in South-eastern Nigeria. Seven-Up Bottling Company Nigerian Pic, Nigeria Bottling Company Pic, andNigerian Breweries Pic were the studied brewery companies in Nigeria. Five (5) research objectives questions andfive (5) hypotheses wereformulated in this study to provide guidance to the study. Descriptive research design was used to investigate the employee working conditions and organizationalperformance in South-eastern Nigeria. Primary and secondary data were used for the study. A total of 277 respondents consisting of 80 respondents from Seven-Up Bottling Company Pic, 95 respondents from Nigeria Bottling Company Pic and 102 respondents from Nigerian Breweries Pic was used for the study after retrieving the questionnaire. Data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, percentages and mean scores in line with the specific objectives, while ordinary least squares (OLS) simple regression analysis technique were employed in testing the hypotheses ofthe study. The studyfound out that to a high extent working hour, health and safety at work, departmentalization ofjobs, workplace facility workload and salary/wage asforms of employee working conditions affected organizational performance in terms of quantity of output, quality of output, customer’s satisfaction, work methods and profit generation in the organizations under study with mean scores > 3.00. The research hypotheses testing done using t-test in the simple regression analysis showed that independently working hour, health and safety at woik, depai tmentalization ofjobs, workplace facility workload and salary/wage as forms of employee working conditions significantly (at P < 0.05) and positively influenced organizational performance in terms of quantity of output, quality of output, customer’s satisfaction, work methods and profit generation in Seven-Up Bottling Company Pic, Nigeria Bottling Company Pic, and Nigerian Breweries Pic. The study concludes that employees working conditions andperformance are inseparable in achieving organizational goals in all the brewery industries under study. Increasing organizational performance in Seven-Up Bottling Company Pic, Nigeria Bottling Company Pic, and Nigerian Breweries Pic through establishing good working conditionsfor workers should be vigorously pursued by sustaining and improving upon the existing working conditions such as working hour, health and safety of workers at work, epartmentalization ofjobs, workplace facility, workload standards and salary payment among others in these organizations.
