ABSTRACT

In a study to investigate the effect of Telfaria occidentalis on. the I-laematology of rabbit, three groups of female rabbits of six animals per group were used. The diets were designated A, B and C respectively. The test ingredient in the diets, Telfaria occidentalis was included in the following proportions; A (0%), B (5%) and C (10%). The diets were offered daily at 08. 30 am to the female weaner rabbits. At the 21st day of the experiment, blood samples were collected and analysed, then followed by second collection on 42m1 day of the study. The results obtained indicated that the total white blood cell counts (WBC), red blood cell counts (RBC), Haernoglobin count (HB) and packed cell volume (PCV) showed no significant difference (P > 0. 05) among the groups. The results from the experiment indicated that there was significant difference (P < 0. 05) in the final body weight (FBWT) and average daily gain (ADG) of the rabbits. Also, the feed intake values were not significantly different (P > 0. 05) among the groups.
