Effect Of Woodash On The Growth And Nodulation Of Soybean (Glycine Max) In An Acid Soil Of Umudike

ABSTRACT
This work was conducted at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike. Six rates of Wood ash 0,2,4,6,8 and 10 tons/ha were tried to determine their effect on Growth and nodulation of Soybean (Glycine Max) in the Acid Soil of Umudike. The Wood ash treatments were replicated four times in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Chemical and Physical properties of the soil used before and after the experiment were %owned in the laboratory - %ant paaineters such as Plant height, Sten girth and Number of leaves were collected at 2,4,6 and 8 weeks after planting. Nodules count at 8 weeks after planting and Nodules Fresh and Dry Weights at 8 weeks after planting were collected. From the data on the above listed parameters, 10 tons/1a Wood ash gave the most positi''e response on the espectixe parameters, and was significantly different from the control. The data were subjected to analysis of variance and treatment had significant effect on all plant parameters collected at P <0.05. Thus the general sequence of treatment efficiency was as follows 10>8> 6> 4> 2> 0.
