ABSTRACT


This study focuses on the efjèci of valued ac/c/ed lax oii the econonuc grow/h 0/

Nigeria (2006-2015). The specific objectives where to determine lime cJ/ci 0/

value added tax on the real gross domestic proc/oct o/ Nigeria (111(1 a/so to

evaluate the effrcl of value added lax on total revenue 0/ Nigeria. The c/aid was

collected from secondary sources using ex-post/Octo research design. The c/ala

was then analyse and tested using simple regression and correlation coej/Icienl

techniques. The resuli of/he hypothesis one revealed that VAT has a signi/icant

effect on real gross domestic product. The fIndings in hrpotheses Iwo revealed

that VAT has a signijIccmnt eJjCcl on tot cml lax revenue of Nigeria. Ii is

recommended that Government should inlen,s'ifr its effOrts to cc!plure ciii taxci b/c

persons and business which cire submerged in the in/ormdm/ economy. Timer 5/70/I/cl

also use tax payer's money to provide infrastructura/ cmnienities cis this will

encourage people to pay their lax.
