ABSTRACT

The researcher evaluate the effect of tax incentives on economic development of Nigeria. The major problem investigated was that tax incentives are not adequate to affect the economic development of Nigeria. In investigating the problem, primary data were collected through designed research questionnaire distributed to staff of board of internal revenue, staff of federal inland revenue services, staff of ministry of finance and staff of some selected banks ANOVA were used in analyzing the data, findings based on the data collected and tested revealed that HA1should be accepted which signifies that existing tax incentives increase individual and corporate investment in Nigeria particularly Abia state and HA2should also be accepted which signifies that existing tax incentives have positive influence on economic growth and development. The researcher therefore recommends that the government should provide more fiscal incentives that will encourage investment by investors and thereby increase economic growth and development in Nigeria:
