ABSTRACT

The effect of rice mill waste (RMW) and NPK fertilizer on some physical and chemical properties of a haplic acrisol in Umudike was studied. The experiment was set up in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 10 treatments each replicated 3 times (i.e. 30 plots.) Result show significant differences (P 0.05) in bulk density total porosity, saturated hydraulic conductivity and mean weight diameter while no significant difference ( P= 0.05) was observed in the total N and pH(H20). Significant difference occurred in (KCI) and organic matter content of soil. These results indicate that RMW either alone or in combination with NPK Fertilizer, has a lot of potential for use on Low fragile tropical soils.
