Effect Of Published Financial Report On Shareholder’s Investment Decision In The Banking Industry In Nigeria (A Study Of First Bank Nigeria Plc)

ABSTRACT

This study focuses on the effect of published financial report on shareholder 's investment decision in the banking industry in Nigeria. In view of the need to understand what published financial report meant, this study sought to establish the effect of published financial report on dividend payment and earnings per share of shareholders to investment decisions. Data were collected from First hank Nigeria Plc from (2002-20 13) carefully analyzed using ordinary least square based multiple regression. The findings showed that there is long run equilibrium effect between published financial reports and shareholder's investment decision in the banking industry in Nigeria. The researcher hereby concludes that published financial statement has an effect on shareholders' investment decisions in the banking industry in Nigeria if carefully read, and understood. This study recommends that investors should be more interested in all aspect of the financial report rather just being interested in the dividend payment. This is because better understanding of all aspect of financial report would lead to better and more profitable investment returns
