ABSTRACT

An experiment was conducted in the university teaching and research farm to evaluate the effects of density on mungbean varieties with the same row spacing but different plant-to-plant distances during the first rainy season of 2005. The experiment was a factorial laid out in randomised complete block design (RCBD). Treatment, leaf number, leaf area, as well as in yield parameters such as seed weight per plant, yield per plot and yield per hectare. Plant height decreased with increases in spacing, highest yield was achieved as a result of higher number of plant per unit area (40cm x 10cm) rather than variety.
