Effect Of NPK, Layer Manure And Broiler Manure On Physico-Chcemical Parameters And Plankton Of Fresh Water

ABSTRACT
The study was designed to investigate the influenqe of chicken droppings and N:P:K fertilizer on the physico-chemical factors and phytoplankton. There were 3 tF~atmcnls nnd a control. All the treatments and control were replicated thrice. The control did not receive any fertilizer while treatment one received was manured with N:P:K fertilizer at a rate of 1.75g/I and treatments 2 and 3 were manured with layers and broiler droppings respectively at a rate of 3.5g/I. The application of fertilizer was done fortnightly and the readings taken. Readings were also carried out before fertilization and 24hours after fertilization. T:·eatment 2 showed a high increase in phytoplankton productivity (1.7xl0 7) followed by lreatment 1 (1.lxI07) and treatment 3 (9x10), and control (4xl0 6).The total hardness of the control was observed at 10.11+14.75 before fertilization and 14.0942.0 24hours after fertilization. TI showed 5+2.01 before fertilization and 5.90+1.41 24hours after fertilization and T2 had 41.6 l +29.9 before fertilization and 44.05+ 30.5 24hours after fertilization. pH was observed at 4.52+0.58 before fertilization and 4.6+0.52 24hours after fet rtilization for control, 6. 73+ mm 1.0 bef4 ore fertilization and 6.48+ 1.15 24hours after fertilization for Tl.T2 had 7.89+1.7 before fertilization and 7.87+1.78 24hours after fertilization T3 showed H of a 7.01 + 1.0p2 before fertilization and 6.87+ 1.36 24hours after fertilization. In terms of the transparency. control had 15±6.12 before fertilization and 1 S. J 7+6.36 24hours after fertilization. Tl showed 4.6+2.26 before fertilization and 4.58±2.2 24hours after fertilization. T2 recorded 5.69+ 5.2 before fertilization and 5.67+±5.18 24hours after fertilization. And T3 was observed at 8.72+2.84 before fertiJiz T at h i e on tra an n d sp 8 a .7 re 2 n ± cy 3.8 r 4 ea 2 d 4 in h g ou w rs a a s ft t e a r k f e e n rti a l s iza s t o io o n n . as the colours of the water changed to green which started in T2 containing layers droppings.
