Effect Of Manufacturing Sector On The Economic Growth In Nigeria:- Etop Patience I

ABSTRACT This study analyses the effect of manufacturing sector on economic growth in Nigeria 1981-2018. The main objective of the study is to evaluate the effects of manufacturing sector output and manufacturing capacity utilization on cross domestic output ofthe economy. The study employed secondary data sourced from CBN statistical bulletin. The result revealed that there is stationarity among the variables. There is co-integration among the variables. The manufacturing sector output and manufacturing sector capacity utilization exerts a positive relationship with the gross domestic product but MSO is not significant while MANCAP has significant impact on GDP. The study therefore recommends that government as a matter of urgency should improve on the infrastructural provisions which is a prerequisite to productive activities in both developed and developing countries as it is impossible to embark on productive in the absence of regular power supply, good network roads, security of live and properties.
