Effect Of Insurance On Income Of Insured Farmers In Akwa Ibom State

ABSTRACT
The study determined the effect of the insurance scheme on the income of the insured farmers' in Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria. Primary data was used for this study, Data were used analyzed using frequency distribution, percentages and multiple regression analysis. The study indicate that majority (36.7%) of the insured farmers were middle aged. Also the study showed that majority (46.7%) of the farmer had at least secondary school education. Men engaged in insurance scheme than their women in the study area the insured farmers were mostly young and active farmer who are married and literate, with relatively large household size. Having seen that insurance scheme increased the output and income level of the insured farmers in the study area, effort should be made by both government and non government agencies to encourage particular and in the nation in general to embrace farm insurance schemes.
