ABSTRACT

The study investigated the effect offinancial reporting quality on stock market price of enterprises in Nigeria. To achieve this objective, the study specifically investigated the effect offinancial reporting quality on Dividend per share (DPS) ofmanufacturing firms in Nigeria, effect offinancial reporting quality on Earnings per share (EPS) of manufacturingfirms in Nigeria. The study restricted its scope to theperiod 2009-2018 and data usedfor the studywas adoptedfrom thefour manufacturing companies listed in the chapter three ofthis project work. The simple regression method was employed as the analytical tool. Findings show that Dividend per share, Earnings per share which standsfor proxiesforfinancial performance as the dependent variable, which has a negative and significant relationship with financial reporting quality as the proxy for the independent variable. The study recommends that Accountants and financial managers should always review the value of their firms as this helps to control variables which may be impacting inversely on such strategic variables. Financial reporting quality offirms in this study interacts negatively with the value of firms, so we therefore recommend that this situation can be controlled iffinancial managers take time to improve the quality ofthe reporting as this will promote their value in the market. Finally, managements should train their accounting staffs in matters concerningfinancial reporting quality, stock prices and performance. This they can achieve through organizing seminar, on thejob training and others.
