Effect Of Downsizing On Organizational Productivity (A Study Of Eco-Bank And Diamond Bank Umuahia, Abia State.)

ABSTRACT

 The effect of downsizing on organizational productivity was examined with special reference to Eco Bank and Diamond Bank Nigeria Plc, Umuahia Branch. The specific objectives of the study were to ascertain the impact of downsizing on organizational productivity, examine the effect of organizational downsizing on organizational performance, examine the impact of organizational downsizing on organizational effectiveness and to ascertain the effect of downsizing, organizations profitability. The study was guided by a descriptive survey design because it gives detailed information about issues, problems, events and describes events as they are. Both primary and secondary data were used The population of the study was 150 employees and the sample size of 109 respondents was obtained using simple random sampling. The researcher used questionnaire for data collection. The data gathered for the study was analyzed using descriptive analysis i.e. frequency, mean and percentage. Inferential statistic i.e. regression analysis and correlation was used to test hypotheses with the aid of statistical packages for social sciences (SPSS). Among the. key findings of the study was that downsizing have any significant impact on organizational productivity, the study farther revealed that there is significant relationship between organizational downsizing and organizations performance. As;, the study showed that organizational downsizing have significant impact on organizational effectiveness. Finally, the study revealed that downsizing has effect on organizational profitability. The study recommended that Downsizing should be done in a normal and appropriate way in order not to affect the organizational productivity,
