ABSTRACT

The study examined the effect of cooperate social responsibility on the profitability of finns igeria using times series data from 2003 to 2013. The secondary data collected from the cted firms' Financial Annual Reports and Nigeria Stock Exchange Fact Book 2012/2013 [ analyzed and hypothesis tested using multiple regression analysis. The overall ificance of the model is showed in the table (significant = 382.250, 453.226, 40.028, .733 p<.01). This means that there is a significant relationship between corporate social , pons t i h b e ili s t t" y ud an y d in p d ro ic fi a t t a e b s il t ·i h ty at co R m etu pa rn nie o s n in C N ap ig it e a r l ia E . mployed had a significant and positive act on return on asset while Return on Equity and Return on asset ratio had a positive and i ft cant effect on Profit after tax. From the aforementioned relationship, this research ommends that cooperate social responsibility will accelerate the overall perfonnance and fitability of firms in Nigeria. This among other things include; effective and sustainable {tomer care and Environmental awareness capable of ensuring growth and development in h the firms and environment they find themselves in should be adopted.
