Effect Of Budgetary Control On The Performance Of Private Sector Organization (A Study Of Guardian Express Assurance Limited)

ABSTRACT

The objective of this project is to appraise the effect of budgetary control on the performance of private sector organization [a study of guardian express assurance limited, Lagos-State, NIGERJA. As well as to ascertain whether the system of their budget comply with normal laid down budgetary control techniques or not. The work discusses the importance of planning for the future with the scarce available resources at the disposal of the company to achieve its goal in the most efficient and effective manner. There was a digression into the study of related literature; works of past authors and the view of many writers were reviewed to identj5.' specific areas where budgetary control system can be of help to the company. A descriptive survey design was used in the data collection. The statistical package for social sciences version 17.0 was used to analyze the data using descriptive statistics, including means and standard deviation. The relationship between budgetary control and the performance of Guardian Express Assurance Limited was analyzed using correlation and regression analysis methods. The research findings established that there is a weak positive effect of budgetary control on the performance of Guardian Express Assurance Limited measured by R square at 14.3%. The research recommends that employees need to be sensitized on, budgetary control and the effect on performance of the organization. It also recommends that other factors that influence performance apart from budgetary con from should be investigated by organizations.
