Effect Of Audit Committee Composition On Listed Banks Performance In Nigeria.

ABSTRACT

The major purpose of this work is to examine the effect of audit committee composition on listed banks performance in Nigeria because the weakness of corporate governance, the failure also undermined the quality of financial reporting and financial reports and many other factors. The research design used was correlational with a random sample size and a secondary data source. Some of the findings and recommendation are stated accordingly; Frequency of audit committee meetings should be improved by ensuring that adequate and sufficient time is dedicated to pressing current issues as it relates to each bank, Frequency of audit committee meetings should be improved by ensuring that adequate and sufficient time is dedicated to pressing current issues as it relates to each bank, Caution should be exercised in increasing the number of members in audit committees. This is to avoid the cost implications of large committee size and its adverse effect on audit quality and The entire legal and regulatory framework together with the necessary institutional and environmental architecture for proper constitution and operation of an efficient audit committee should be maintained at all times to enhance corporate governance and improve financial performance of listed banks in the Nigerian stock exchange.
