ABSTRACT

The effect of aqueous leaf and stem extract of Chromolaena odorata on germination and seedling growth of pepper (Capsicum annum) were investigated Concentrated extract and its dilution 1:1, 1:2.5, 1:5 v/v was used as treatment and water served as control. All treatments significantly inhibit germination in pepper (P<0.05). There was significant increase (P<0.05) in plant height and dry wet of pepper seed. This indicates that seedling growth of pepper was positively affected by aqueous leaf and stem extract of C.odorata when compared with germination growth. Further study is needed to find out the bio-activity ofC. odorata.
