ABSTRACT

An experiment was conducted to determine the apparent metabolizable energy (AME) of Mucuna Cochichinensis using nine roosters, the birds were trained to consume their daily requirement in 1 hour. The training lasted for 21 days. During the training the birds were fed commercial chick mesh (Top feed) after which the birds were grouped into three groups with three birds each. The three groups were allocated to three diet comprising 100% of commercial chick mesh and a mixture of 50:50 boiled and raw f'1. conchichinensis respectively. The birds were allowed to feed between the hours of 9am[1]I oam the feeders removed, droppings were collected quantitatively at 48 hours. The result shows that boiled lvi. cunchichinensis has slightly high metabolizable coefficient while raw M conchichinensis has slightly low metabolizable coefficient which suggest that the energy of M. conchichinensis may be biologically available than the energy of ingredient in commercial feed
