Determinants Of Income Of Urban Household Umuahia North Local Government Area, Abia Nigeria.

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted in Umuahia North Local Government Area. Abia state. A random sample of 80 Respondents was taken from the different Autonomous communities in the study Area. Questionnaires were used for data collection. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression. T-test was used to compare the off-farm and farm income of the households from the study Area. The results shows that the Age Distribution of Household heads falls majority within the Age range of' 20-39years. 1'he percentage of respondents who attained formal education was 97.5. The result also shows that household heads that had their firsts marriages within 19 to 39years were about 80.00%. The means farm income was 5625. 0000 naira and the mean oil-farm income was 3 1427.125 naira. The mean differences in naira therefore were -25802.13. I hence, there was a significance differences  between the mean farm income and offfarm income in the study Area. There is a need to make resources available for farming activities so that household who participate in farming activities will he able to increase their output, furthermore leading to the increase of their income. There Is also a need to create jot) opportunities for ofl-1nning activities, so that households that engage in these activities will also increase their income and also stabilize it too.
