ABSTRACT

A mixer was constructed, on a frame of length 930mm, width 480mm and height 935mm with cover 1020mm, with a mixer chamber of 340mm of diameter and irregular shape and unbaled and powered by a 2 horse power electric motor through a reducer (18:1). The mixer was tested for efficiency using a 5kg corn and 5kg garri mixture with samples drawn randomly after 5, 10 and 15 minutes mixing. The mixer was also 'subjected to air, flour and flour with water, cn revolution per minute measured. The result shown that efficiency was 84%, 85%, 80% at 5, 10, 15 minutes respectively, while the revolution was 75rpm, 74rpm, 73rpm for air, flour and flour water mixture respectively. The mixer has a maximum throughput of 80kg/h and efficiency of 83% while the bill of quantities shown that the mixer could be procured at #46,710.
