ABSTRACT
The design, fabrication and evaluation of a cocoa bean dehulling machine was carried out for adaptation in Nigeria. The machine which is operated by an electric motor of 0.18kw has a dehulling efficiency of 66% at 6.5% moisture content (dry basis) and dehulling drum speed of 40rpm. Evaluation test was carried out at different levels of moisture content; 6.5%, 8.5% and 10.5%. Percentage of dehulled cocoa was 66%, 63% and 55% respectively. This shows that efficiency increases with decrease in moisture content. This machine has a capacity of 1 5kg/hr.
