Blood profile and visceral organ changes of broiler fed vbarying levels of cotton seed meal.

ABSTRACT

The experiment was conducted at the research poultry farm of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike. The experiment was a completely Randomize Design CRD to find out effect of Cottonseed meal on blood profile and some visceral organ of broiler chicken. The inclusion levels were 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% with 0% as the control. Each treatment was replicated three times with 10 birds per-replicate making a total of 150 birds. Blood samples were collected in before the introduction of the test diets. Blood samples (2.5ml) were collected in boujon bottles from 3 birds in each replicate for study. The results of the data from the birds placed on diets I and 4 show that there are no significant difference (p> 0.05) between the red blood cell (RBC) the white Blood cell (WBC) of birds fed diet I was significantly lower (P<0.05) than those fed of other diets the erythrocytes (ESR) of birds in diets 2 and 5 was significantly lower (P<0.05) than those of the other treatment groups. The haemoglobin of the different birds were not significantly different (P< 0.05) form each other there were no significant differences between the mean crepuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC) of the different groups. The use of cotton seed meal enhanced early maturity, good and quality growth, feed efficiency, quality visceral organs, yelled and improve quality blood characteristic.
