ABSTRACT

Banks arc so prominent in the Nigeria economy that non-bank financial institutions (NBFls) arc hardly noticed. It is against tills background that this study sets out to assess the impact of non bank financial institutions (NBFIAs) on capital formation of informal manufacturing firms. To assess their impact, the study data obtain from CBN statistleal Bulletin and 2009 publications of come star manufacturing company. Regress analysis and Pearson’s correlation technique were used to analyses data and test hypotheses. Findings indicate that non-bank financial institutions have a significant impact on the capital formation of informal manufacturing firms .In order to fill up structure gaps, it was recommended that non-bank financial institutions should extend their credit to the informal manufacturing firms which are rural based in Abia state and that more informal manufacturing firms in Abia state should enlisted in the Nigerian stock exchange so as to gain access to capital formation via equity hares and other securities.
