Assessment Of Environmental Noise In Umuahia Metropolis, Abia State Nigeria

ABSTRACT 

Noise has become a very important "stress factor" in the human environment as a result of technological and industrial advancement. Noise pollution has become problematic, yet unnoticed in most developing countries including Nigeria. The study focused on "Monitoring and Assessment of environmental noise in Umuahia Metropolis, Abia State, Nigeria", using purposive sampling technique to obtain data from seven locations: Church, Markets, Busy Road Junctions, Motor Parks, Residential areas, Industrial areas and Sensitive areas. Data obtained with the aid of noise level meter (Extech Model), was analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Fischer Least significant difference (LSD)
