ABSTRACT

The capital market is a subset of the financial market which serves as the engine of growth in the modern economy. The capital market is not a single entity but a network of specialized institutions that in different ways being together suppliers and users of long-term end of the financial market. The capital market is the segment of the financial market where medium to long-term financial instruments are created and or traded to meet the long term funding needs of the economic activities of the people. Hence, the capital market plays a very vital role in stimulating industries as well as economic growth and development (Onyike, 2001).
