ABSTRACT

Retail is the sale of goods and services from individuals or businesses to the end-users. Retailers are part of an integrated system called tile supply chain (Nwangene, 201 Ia). A retailer purchases goods produced in large quantity from manufacturers directly or through a wholesaler, and then sells in smaller quantities to the consumer for a profit. Retailing can be done in either a fixed locations like stores or markets, door-door or by delivery. In the early 2000s, an increasing amount of retailing was done using online websites, electronic payment and delivered through courier services and other services (Dhar Ct al, 2012). Retailing is a specialized marketing activity. The ultimate objective of all the marketing effort is to reach the end consumer with the Product and service of their need with a reasonable price which they could easily afford. Retailing supplements the attainment of this objective (Kearney 2012b). Due to the increase in the disposable income along with the technological developments, the retail sector is eventually consolidating and the new retail format are emerging. in this book the researcher attempts to examine the effect of demographic factor on consumption behavior (Dhar' et a!, 2012). Marketers have always been interested in examining the Demographic factor. Researchers in marketing has extensively use the demographic information factors like; age, household size, gender, income level and social class these arc considered to be predictor of consumer buying behavior (Warner, 2005a).
