An Evaluation of the accounting .system in Local Government Administration (A study of Aba South and Aba North):- Opara Maureen C

ABSTRACT

This research work empirically examines the evaluation' of accounting system' in the local government administration, with a particular attention to Aba South and Aba North Local. Government areas of Abia State, The paper; ;.’ carefully examines the concept accounting, auditing and financial control and its efficiency and effectiveness in local government area administration. ' Questionnaires were drawn and administered in Aba south and Aba North z • Local Government Areas. Employees especially senior accountant, auditors . ' senior management staff management staff and .account clerks;'gave responses to the questions.Using the answers 'given and employing chi-square techniques the researcher / tested the null hypothesis of the role of accounting system in local government administration. The researchers results showed that actually proper z accounting system impacts significantly on the viability and sustainability of a good local government administration in a positive way. The researcher therefore concluded that proper accounting; system' has good impact on the general running of local government administration in Nigeria: and later made .some bone-chilling recommendations for the government.
